Small Straws in a Soft Wind
When someone says, “You’re a soft wind, a soft breeze,” he’s probably referring to the wind
blowing in the direction of the person. This is how we often think about the Spirit and its power
to transform us into the kind of people God created us to be. The wind carries His word, and
we can’t tell where it’s going or where it comes from. In fact, it can float through us unnoticed,
and we don’t often recognize it.
Meaning of small straws in a soft wind
In the book of John, the author writes that “those who are born of the Spirit cannot tell where
the wind is coming from and where it goes.” The same is true of the word of God, which comes
to us in a still, small voice, unnoticed by most. It can even float by unnoticed, just as the wind
of the Spirit floats by us, carrying our thoughts, desires, and prayers.
